Anonymous asked: I'm really embarrassed and offended you've posted my friendzone question the way you have. It was a genuine question and I feel made fun of. Unfollowed.

And mine was a genuine answer! Sure, I tried to be funny at first, but then I said “here is my actual advice” and then gave actual advice. If you didn’t focus on being embarrassed (and there is… very minimal embarrassment because you are on anon), I think you’d see that I was really trying to be helpful and as polite as I could.

The literal answer to your question is: tell them how you feel, and if they don’t feel the same way, you have to respect that. I hate the term friendzone, with all its nasty connotations of entitlement, but I didn’t hate on you for using it. Sorry to see you go.

Anonymous asked: how do i unfriendzone myself

Kidnap their house pets and key their car. Then they won’t want to be friends with you at all. Bam, out of the friendzone!

(This better not be a “nice guy” thing. Here’s my actual advice:

  1. Get the concept of the “friendzone” out of your head. Stop thinking about it.
  2. Be happy you have a friend, because friends are cool.
  3. If you want a relationship, say so. Don’t expect them to magically realize that you want to be their special friend just because you’re so friendly and single.
  4. Realize that sometimes people are just not attracted to you and that’s how it happens. If they don’t want anything more than an utterly platonic relationship, failing to respect that is a good ticket out of the friendzone too. Just about as good as keying their car.)
MAKE SURE YOU VOTE!

If you’re registered to vote in the US, PLEASE do so. It’s important! It’s our right, and really it’s our responsibility.

If you live in the states of CT, IA, ID, ME, MN, MT, NH, RI, WI, WY, or in Washington DC, you can register right at the polling places. DO IT. And, of course, don’t just vote what your friends/your parents/the advertisements/the internet tells you to vote! There’s still time to get informed—this decision is yours to make. go go go

Anonymous asked: You play quidditch? What team and position what other colleges have quidditch teams? That is so cool!

I play Chaser! Lots of schools have Quidditch teams. Check out the official International Quidditch Association website; there’s a neat map somewhere that has all the teams from each region. If your college/high school/community doesn’t have a team, you should totally start one.

an accurate summary of my past two weeks
  • essays (“ugh I need sleep”)
  • coffee (“well okay not complaining”)
  • essays (“wait seriously when can I sleep”)
  • Quidditch tournament (“so we’re literally the best in the West nbd”)
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra (“AHHH SO AMAZING AHHHH why did I not watch these sooner”)
  • more essays (“;n; please just let me sleep”)

Things are a tiny bit less crazy this week (and I’ve finished my frantic, fanatic A:TLA/LOK marathons) so Otherwordly is back on the list now. Woo! Sorry about the lack of updates recently. Also, askbox is open again.

(Love to all those whose summary of the past two weeks is “MY CITY GOT HIT BY A HURRICANE AUGH”. <3)
